This concert was recorded on the third night of Bob's Survival tour, and was one of seven historic performances at the world-famous Apollo Theater in the heart of Harlem. Even the dated technology of the recording equipment used here can't mask the power of a full horn section (employed only for the Survival tour) or the melodic beauty of the one-drop rhythm developed by drummer Carlton "Carly" Barrett and performed in the esteemed venue.
At the close of one of the most tumultuous decades in New York City's history, Bob Marley's appearance represented hope, the possibility of a shift in power, and the need for social justice. The poignancy of his anti-war ethic, as well as his exhortation to "forget your troubles and dance," resound in the roars from the crowd on this exclusive BobMarley.com recording.
